Annaliesa Rose is a versatile singer, musician and composer who has been involved in music and the arts for her whole life. Performing in clubs since 1999, Annaliesa has performed at many different venues, recently finishing a tour which comprised of two gigs in the Czech Republic (Brno and Františkovy Lázně) and a full run of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (receiving a 4 star review for her Peter Allen Show). Back in Australia she regularly performs in Wollongong (at Wests Illawarra, as part of Jazz & Blues Sundays at The Basement of The Illawarra Builders Club and the Illawarra Jazz Club’s Saturday gigs), Sydney (at “The Foundry616” jazz bar in Ultimo) and Canberra (at ‘Molly’ Bar and Albert Hall, among other venues including the National Gallery of Australia, The Canberra Wine House, The National Press Club) as well as at many clubs, hotels, bars, wineries and jazz festivals over the years. She also performed in the 2000 Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies and other functions as part of the Millennium Marching Band.
With a passion for jazz, and after tuition from her mother Marjorie Shepheard, Annaliesa Rose went on to learn from Australia’s best of the best (especially in the jazz and contemporary world) Kerrie Biddell. From there she went on to study a Bachelor of Music in the elite jazz program at The Australian National University in Canberra where she was taught by many of Australia’s finest working jazz musicians. She then topped off her studies with a Master’s Degree in Arts Management at the Australian Institute of Music to better understand the workings of her industry.
Annaliesa recorded her debut album with Miroslav Bukovsky, Michael Bartolomei, Phil Stack and Tim Firth, titled “Is That Jazz?” which is available for purchase and streaming on Bandcamp and all streaming services.
Annaliesa Rose continues to focus on both performing and composing and is currently working on new projects which will come out in the near future including a new business venue to further sharpen her business skills and help expand the current portfolio for female composers. This will be a watch this space moment and I’ll explain soon when I actually have time to organise things.
